Bozeman Named One of the Best Cities For Weed in America
Well, that didn't take long. Bozeman was recently mentioned on a list of the best cities for weed in America.
Bozeman, Montana joined other cannabis-friendly cities such as Portland, Seattle, and Denver on a list of the best cities for next-level cannabis experiences in an article published by Thrillist.
Among the reasons Bozeman landed on the list is a large number of dispensaries in the area. Recreational cannabis was legalized in Montana on January 1, 2022. Montana is one of 18 states that has legalized the sale of recreational cannabis.
Medical cannabis was legalized in Montana in 2004. As a result, many dispensaries were up and running long before the legalization of recreational cannabis.
For its size, Bozeman has more dispensaries per capita than most major cities. Literally, there aren't many places in Bozeman that don't have a dispensary close by.
In the article, Thrillist compared Bozeman to Boulder, Colorado in the early 2000s and called it a great place to get blazed.
Surrounded by mountains, it has weed-friendly outdoor activities galore.
said Thrillist.
Bozeman is also home to a large number of skiers and snowboarders. The "ski bum" culture, as they call it, has been known to partake in the use of marijuana. In fact, a visitor at a local ski area recently asked the question "Why does it always smell like weed?"
However, prices for cannabis users in Gallatin County, where Bozeman is located, could increase in the near future. A proposal for a 3% local-option sales tax will be added to the June 7 ballot and voters in Gallatin County will decide whether or not the local taxes get approved in the county.
