The great news: Montana has some of the most beautiful rest stops one could ask for! Seriously, my all time (anywhere) favorite rest stop is on i-90 between Billings and Bozeman. So close to home!

Always keep in mind, rest stops are not created equal. Services are almost certainly limited...some even have seasonal restrooms.

Others, however, are quite nice with excellent rest rooms and even a visitor building with decent tourist information. Montana rest areas may have some of the following amenities (and the map will let you know which ones).

If you ever have concerns about a rest stop in the state of Montana you can contact the Montana Department of Transportation or the State of Montana. They welcome concerns from the public and often do safety studies on specific rest stops.

There are HUNDREDS of employees that work very hard to keep us safe on Montana's roadways. According to Montana.gov:

MDT's Maintenance Program employs more than 750 employees who together maintain Montana's 24,500 lane miles of roadway using 4,000+ pieces of equipment located in more than 150 facilities statewide.
