The Weeknd delivered an over the top halftime performance at Super Bowl LV. However, many people had mixed reviews of the performance.

The magnitude of the halftime production was without a doubt, impressive. The Weeknd performed the entire show live, without the aid of a background vocal track. He managed to use all of Raymond James Field during his performance. The Weeknd performed a medley of some of his most well-known hits, spanning from "Starboy" to "Blinding Lights."

Here is the full list of songs performed by the Weeknd in the Super Bowl halftime show:

  • Starboy
  • The Hills
  • Can't Feel My Face
  • I Feel It Coming
  • Save Your Tears
  • Earned It
  • House of Balloons/Glass Table Girls
  • Blinding Lights

For much of the halftime show, the Weeknd was accompanied by backup dancers dressed in red sport coats and what appeared to be jockstraps over their faces. To be honest, it was a little weird to watch. Reactions to the halftime show have varied. Some people thought The Weeknd crushed his performance, while others found it underwhelming.

Personally, I haven't had that much eye contact with anyone since the pandemic began last year. There were a lot of close-up shots, and I wasn't prepared for The Weeknd to stare straight at me in my living room for nearly 30 minutes. I definitely thought the halftime show was entertaining, but I wouldn't call it great. I think it was a little too weird for a lot of viewers, and with so many people all over the world watching, there was bound to be a lot of criticism.
