This is the Most Boring Tourist Attraction in Montana
Those of us that live in Montana are incredibly lucky to live here. If you love nature and spending time outdoors, Montana is a great place to call home.
However, in the summer months, Montana is a popular tourist destination for many. For many places in the state, tourism is the driving force of the economy.
Some of the more popular tourist attractions in Montana are without a doubt, Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park. According to YNP, 3,806,305 people visited the park in 2020.
Montana is home to many beautiful places. Some are easy to get to, and some are off of the beaten path. While Montana has much to offer to those that love to travel and explore, some destinations may be viewed as less than impressive. We've all been there. You get really excited about going somewhere and are disappointed when you finally arrive. For example, don't waste your time going to "Carhenge" if you're ever driving through Nebraska. Wall Drug in South Dakota is another great example of an unimpressive tourist trap in my opinion.
The website farandwide.com recently released a list of the most boring "tourist traps" in every state. They found the "least interesting and most skip-worthy" destination in each state. The website says that if the destination claims to be the world’s “largest” or “best” of anything, it made the list.
For Montana, they listed the Smelter Stack in Anaconda as the most boring tourist attraction. The reason the attraction made the list is that its claim to fame is that it's the tallest free-standing masonry structure in the world, or it could be that it really is boring. The Smelter Stack is the main attraction at Anaconda Smoke Stack State Park.
