Over the past few months during the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a huge focus on personal hygiene. We have been told to wash our hands, wipe down surfaces, and sanitize on a regular basis.

The hygiene recommendations got me thinking about my two dogs, Galena and Bella. I began questioning whether I was giving them baths often enough. I'll be honest, my dogs are kind of stinky right now. I generally give them a bath 3-4 times a year. I always wash them outside because they both shed a lot, which can plug up your household drains. As a result, I don't really give them baths in the winter months.

I've never been one to take my dogs to a groomer. I understand that some people do, but it's not really my thing. I can do most of the grooming at home.

A couple of times during the spring, I took my dogs to the river to let them swim. Last week, I gave them their first bath of the year. I know there are a lot of pet owners in the Bozeman area, and I thought I'd get a little insight on how often other people wash their dogs.
