NBC’s Today Show Puts Bozeman in the Spotlight

The Today Show recently visited Bozeman, Montana while working on a story about "Zoom Towns" that were created during the pandemic.

Apparently, Bozeman is considered a "Zoom Town." If you're wondering what that means, here's a simple description: a "Zoom Town" is a town or city that has grown due to an influx of remote workers. During the pandemic, the population of Bozeman grew substantially as people moved from larger cities to work remotely in Montana.

For many people that moved to Montana, it was a pleasant change. However, a lot of longtime Montana residents have expressed frustration towards remote workers that have moved here and jacked up housing prices.

In early June, The Today Show visited Bozeman and interviewed a woman that moved  from Oakland, CA to Bozeman with her family during the pandemic. The video below highlights many of the perks that Bozeman has to offer for those wanting to escape city life.

Bozeman is one of many places in the U.S. that has experienced a "Zoom Town" boom. As a result, the population of Bozeman has grown at a rapid pace. Housing prices and the cost of many other goods have skyrocketed.

The Today Show also talked with longtime residents about how the growth has impacted the way of life in Bozeman. Many historic neighborhoods in Bozeman are quickly becoming unrecongnizable and replaced with high-priced condos and apartment buildings.

Unfortunately, many locals are concerned that Bozeman has changed far too much, and that the old way of life is a thing of the past.
