Most of southwest Montana is in a precarious position through at least Monday morning due to rainfall and swelling rivers and creeks. The Yellowstone River in particular is facing several issues including Flash Flood Watches.
The order comes in the wake of the nonnative species being caught in the Gardner River at its confluence with the Yellowstone just outside of Yellowstone National Park.
Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks is asking anglers to voluntarily kill smallmouth bass in the upper Yellowstone River until an emergency rule can be implemented.
